GM recalls certain 2013 model year Escalade, Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Savana, Sierra and Yukon cars that may be equipped with defective steering columns. These vehicles may not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 114. FMVSS 114 specifies performance requirements that are intended to reduce the incidence of crashes that result from accidental rollaway of cars. As a result of the defect, the affected cars may shift from park and roll away after the driver has existed the car. GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace defective steering columns as necessary.
